I interpreted the email this way:
"OK, so I'm getting the bids, doing the math, and this is a friendly note to ask you to pick out a chair, a comfy chair, for the email to follow that will have a big number. Not a huge number, but a number you might not have been thinking of. You've been warned."
I live by the Pessimist's Creed: If you always expect the worst, you're often pleasantly surprised.
